High-Acuity, Low Occurrence (HALO)
On a quarterly basis all field providers complete a High-Acuity Low Occurrence (HALO) session reviewing critical, yet low frequency skills. ALS providers complete a four-hour session reviewing topics such as high-risk medication administration, advanced surgical airway procedures, and neonatal resuscitation. BLS providers have a two-hour session focused on BLS extended-scope skills and resuscitation.
Employees have 24/7 access to online courses though Prodigy EMS. The platform hosts all classes required for recertification, as well as recorded monthly Morbidity & Mortality Case Reviews, Protocol Updates, and elective courses. For example, when a new medication is introduced through emergency protocol changes, all employees complete an online course, resulting in rapid compliance with high confidence and consistency.
Pro EMS employees are also supplied with courses on scene safety and situational awareness (SSAAFER), pediatric medication administration and resuscitation (Handtevy), Rescue Task Force & responding to Active Shooter, Hostile Events.
