Employment

Thomas Wobby, FTEP Coordinator

Thomas Wobby has worked at Pro EMS for four and half years and in this time he has become heavily involved in training at Pro, especially for new employees. However, back in the day, he started working at Pro EMS as an EMT like most of our employees.

Thomas was an EMT in Florida when he first learned about Center For Medics. His original intentions were to move to the Boston area and work as a paramedic to get patient care experience before applying to medical school. He says, “When I began to research programs, CFM seemed like the best fit. I enjoyed how much of the program was based on simulations and practical application of skills.”

After attending CFM for about 8 months and starting his third-riding time, Thomas decided to apply to Pro EMS. “I applied because I liked the small family atmosphere and I was impressed by their training and equipment. I also felt that they held their providers to a high standard and because I wanted to be the best paramedic I could be, I felt like Pro would hold me accountable and help me get there.”

Once he began working as a paramedic, Thomas also started to get involved with training by teaching CPR classes as well as Harvard and MIT’s EMT classes. “Teaching helps me keep my skills sharp and keeps me up-to-date on the latest advancements in the field. I became an FTO at Pro and enjoyed that because I got to train new providers to be good EMTs and be good partners.”

After teaching EMTs and gaining more experience as a paramedic, Thomas started to teach paramedic students at CFM. As an FTO Thomas became increasingly involved with re-shaping the on-boarding process for new employees until he was eventually made a supervisor.

Today, every new hire gets to know Thomas very well as they start their training at Pro. In addition, Thomas still works as a full-time paramedic training EMTs and medics on the road and off. Thank you Thomas for all your hard work!
